Concert Societies in the UK
Forde Abbey is host to one of the country’s most prestigious chamber music series, the Forde Abbey Concert Society. The Great Hall has an ideal acoustic for chamber music, having often been used for recording purposes. It is also a wonderful venue for concerts which take place during the summer months. Each season, Forde Abbey attracts artists of an international level for a varied programme of music. The opportunity to hear concerts of a high professional standard The Blue Flash Music Trust takes its name from the Blue Flash Company formed by Captain 'Baggy' Middleton and other members of the Royal Sussex Regiment after the 1st World War to provide employment for out of work musicians. A blue flash on the shoulder was a part of the regiments uniform. The Blue Flash Company built a couple of Blue Flash cinemas, one of which was built in Horsham in 1923 to provide work for those musicians. Welcome to Egham and District Music Club Dolgellau Music Club offers an invaluable cultural resource to the towns inhabitants in the winter months, and is also a popular destination for the musicians invited to perform. The Octagon Music Society is now in its 29th season. Each year it presents a series of 6 chamber concerts on Sundays at 7.45pm. The Witney Music Society was founded in 1965. It exists primarily in order to provide the town with The Witney Winter Concerts, a series of chamber music concerts given by professional musicians throughout the winter months, October to March. Colchester New Music (registered charity 287932) is essentially a composer's co-operative, promoting concerts, mainly of music by living British composers, particularly those associated with East Anglia. Music - live! aims to
explode the myth that classical music is
elitist and boring!
We have been presenting professional concerts of chamber music in Stratford for over forty years, and aim to promote a variety of younger and more experienced groups of the highest quality we can afford. We have a loyal following among the local community, but offer a warm welcome to newcomers, either for a one-off visit, or as regular subscribers.
